Was the British Empire a Good Thing?
Interestingly, this result seems close to our previous poll on British Unionism V Confederacy.

Its a bit of a loaded question.
If it was a good thing, who did it benefit?
It certainly benfited the greedy unscrupulous Capitalist exploiters. Whilst the British Empire was in operation the vast number of the British populus (white working class) lived in dire poverty and slums that were no better that brick clad dung heaps.
When the first waves of immigrants came over from the West Indies they couldn't believe that most whites - the indiginous working class population - lived in harsh and poverty stricken conditions. It had been drummed up into them how big, magnificent and marvellous the Empire was and naturally they thought that the 'mother country' Great Britain being the epicentre of it all would be some kind of paradise on earth.
The British Empire was the largest that the world had ever seen, and had a massive impact on the history of the world.
Without it we would be just another poxy little country that has done nothing on a worldwide scale.
Whatever problems it's caused for Britons now, it's still something for us to be proud of, and we shouldn't give that pride up.
